UNIT 8: ENGLISH SPEAKING COUNTRIES Lesson 1: Getting started I/ OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students can: - Listen and read the dialogue about Phong's summer camp in Singapore for details and then do some related exercises. - Use lexical items related to English speaking countries 1. Knowledge: a. Grammar : present tenses :review present simple for future b. Lexical items : - Related to English speaking countries. c. Pronunciation: - Clusters: 2. Skills: - Listening, Speaking, Reading,Writing and interactive skills 3. Attitude: - Cooperation, respect, having right and friendly attitudes with friends, teachers in the new school 4. Quality and competence: - Be confident and friendly with the new school environment - Develope listening, speaking skills and cooperative interaction II/ TEACHING AIDS (MATERIALS) 1.Teacher’s preparation: - Lesson plan, Pictures, posters ,textbook,CD-MP3(Computer-Multi projector/cassette/ “sách mềm”) and other materials - Textbook, notebook, school things. Call out names of English speaking countries and their main cities. ? Listen and read * Set the scenes: - Look at the title of the conversation and the picture. - Ask them some questions: • Where are the children? • What do you think they are doing? - Ss answer the questions as a class. Play the recording and have Ss follow along. - Answer the questions individually. * Suggested answers - They are at the summer camp. - Students' answer II. Practice (20'') 1a. Find a word / an expression ( P17) - Find a word or an expression from the conversation which you use when you: 1. think something is wonderful 2. ..... - Share answers with your partner. - Teacher gets feedback - Add any other expressions which have the same meaning. 1b. Answer the questions ( P17) - Run through the questions. - Ss read the conversation again to answer the questions. - Ss exchange their answers with a classmate. - Call on some Ss to write their answers on the board.
