UNIT 8: ENGLISH SPEAKING COUNTRIES Lesson 3: A closer look 2 I/ OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students can: - Review present tenses: present simple, present continuous and present perfect - Learn about the present simple for the future. - Present tenses 1. Knowledge: a. Grammar : present simple, present continuous and present perfect - Learn about the present simple for the future. b. Lexical items : - related to English speaking countries.: c. Pronunciation: -Clusters: 2. Skills: - Listening, Speaking, Reading,Writing and interactive skills 3. Attitude: - Cooperation, respect, having right and friendly attitudes with friends, teachers in the new school 4. Review: Present tenses (12') 1. Complete the sentences.... ( P19) - Work individually to complete the sentences with the correct forms of the verbs. - Allow Ss to share ideas in pairs or small groups. Present simple for the future (15'') 1. Use - Study the REMEMBER. - What do we use the present simple for? - Read the examples in the REMEMBER. - We use the present simple with a future meaning when we talk about schedules, programs. e.t.c (for example: puplic transport, cinema, television, schools...) 3a. Read the schedule... (P20) - Read the monthly schedule for the extra activities at Vancouver Christian School. - Then have them underline the verbs in the sentences. 3b. Work in groups. Discuss the questions... (P20) - Allow Ss time to discuss and find the answers to the questions. If Ss are having difficulty answering question - Is a schedule usually for present or future activities? 1. The Debating Competition takes place in the Main Hall on April 3rd 1 The bus for the excursion to the chocolate factory leaves at 8.00 a.m in April 14th. 3b.Key: 1.The future 2. The present simple 4.
