UNIT 2: LIFE IN THE COUNTRYSIDE Lesson 7: LOOKING BACK +PROJECT I/ OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students can: Recycle the language from the previous sections. - Consolidate and apply what they have learnt in Unit 2 by doing various activities 1. Knowledge: a. Grammar : - Comparative forms of adverbs of manner b. Lexical items : - Lexical items related to life in the countryside c. Pronunciation: 2. Skills: - Listening, Speaking, Reading,Writing and interactive skills 3. Attitude: - Cooperation, respect, having right and friendly attitudes with friends, teachers in the new school 4. Quality and competence: - Be confident and friendly with the new school environment - Develope listening, speaking skills and cooperative interaction II/ TEACHING AIDS (MATERIALS) 1.Teacher’s preparation: - Lesson plan, Pictures, posters ,textbook,CD-MP3(Computer-Multi projector/cassette/ “sách mềm”) and other materials 2. Students’ preparation: - Textbook, notebook, school things. Warm up (5') Check the old lesson - Ask ss to swap their writing which they completed at home - T checks some and gives comments II. The new lesson A. Vocabulary (10') 1. Use the words and phrases in the box to describe the pictures. A word/ phrase may be used for more than one picture - Ask ss to look at the pictures and go through the words - Have ss to work individually to do the exercise. - T checks as a class 1.Key: Picture a: peaceful, vast, quiet, pasture, paddy field Picture b: quiet, colourful, paddy field, harvest time, rice Picture c: peaceful, vast, quiet, nomadic life, inconvenient, ger, pasture, cattle, horses 2. Look at each picture and write a sentence describing what each person is doing. Use the verbs in brackets (p24) - Ss look at each picture, then at the verb that goes with it. Ask them write the sentences in their full forms. -T goes round while Ss are writing and helps them with any difficulties. When Ss have finished, T can choose some sentences and asks Ss to write them on the board. - T gives feedback. If a sentences is incorrect, ask Ss to correct it. 2. Suggested answers : 1. A boy is riding a horse 2. A man is herding his cattle/sheep. 3. A girl is picking apples (from an apple tree). 4. A boy is flying a kite. 5. The children are running around in the fields/countryside. 6. A woman is collecting water from the river. B. Grammar(15’) 3. Look at the pictures and complete the sentences. Use suitable comparatives of the adverbs in brackets (p24) - Have Ss complete this task in dependently. They can then exchange their answers with a partner. - Call on some ss to write their answers on the board - T confirms correct sentences - Work individually 3. Key: 1.faster than 2.earlier than 3.better-than 4.more skillfully than 5.more beautifully-than 4. Read the situation below and complete the sentences with suitable forms of the adverbs in brackets - Ask Ss to read the situations carefully and decide which two things are being compared. - Have Ss complete the exercise independently and then compare their answers with a partner. T checks as a class. - Call on 4 ss to write their sentences on the board - Ask others to give comments - T corrects -Work individually 4.Key: 1…faster than a camel. 2…more happily than those in the city. 3…more heavily on the weather than people in many other jobs 4…worse than I do C. Communication . (10') 5. Work in groups. You are planning a trip to the countryside. Work together and answer the question: What will you do during the trip? Write the answers in the table belo - Have Ss work in groups. They take turns to ask the questions and note down the answers. -The group then assigns a group representative to report their findings to the class.
