UNIT 2: HEALTH Lesson 7: Looking back and projects I/ OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students can: review the vocabulary and grammar items in unit 2; do a health survey. 1. Knowledge: a. Grammar : - Review: to review the vocabulary and grammar items in unit 2; do a health survey. b. Lexical items : - Vocab: - The lexical items related to the topic health issues. c. Pronunciation: - 2. Skills: - Listening, Speaking, Reading,Writing and interactive skills 3. Attitude: - Cooperation, respect, having right and friendly attitudes with friends, teachers in the new school 4. Quality and competence: - Be confident and friendly with the new school environment - Develope listening, speaking skills and cooperative interaction II/ TEACHING AIDS (MATERIALS) 1.Teacher’s preparation: - Lesson plan, Pictures, posters ,textbook,CD-MP3(Computer-Multi projector/cassette/ “sách mềm”) and other materials 2.Students’ preparation: -Textbook, notebook, school things. Activities VOCABULARY 1.What health problems do you think... (P24) - Ss can complete this task individually or in pairs. Ss should be encouraged to write down their answers. - T can correct the exercise on the board to check spelling. 2. Look at the picture below.... (P24) Ex2:T asks what the see in each picture. After a brief discussion time, Ss can comlete the exercise individually III.Grammar 2.Complete the health tips below... (P24) Ex3: Ss can complete the exercise individually. Compound sentences. 4.Draw a line... (P24) - Ss can do the exercise with a partner. IV.Communication 5.Choose one of the following.... (P24) - T can divide the Ss into pairs. T can ask one pair to come up and role-play the example in the book. - T then asks the Ss to create their own role-plays from the sample problems in the book. - T can choose a pair or two to do their role-plays in front of the class. 6Discuss the following sentences.. (P24) -Ss can remain in the same pairs as in exercise 5 and discuss the sentences in 6. -T can set a time limit and after a few minutes Ss can report back to the class. The class can decide what’s true and what’s a myth. Project: Health survey This project can be done as homework. 1. T divides the class into groups and each group comes up with questions to find out more about health and health habits of the people around them. Ss can ask other groups in class or ask people outsede of the class (other students/teachers in school, family members, friends). 2. If done in class the groups should discuss the main health problems they discovered and what they would like to do to fix them. T may assign extension activities (i.e. making a poster, a song, etc.) for homework or extra points. If done at home, some Ss can make a brief report about the health problems they discovered and tell their groups/the class about what they found. V. Homework Do exercises in the Workbook.
