The Bamboo Basket

Ah Kum lived in China long ago. She lived with her aunt. They were poor.
One day Ah Kum's aunt sent her to buy rice. “This is the last of our money,” the aunt said. “And we have no more rice”.
On her way, Ah Kum met an old man. He was dressed In rags.
“Where are you going?” he asked.
“To buy rice.” she said.
“Help a poor old man. Buy my bamboo basket instead.”
Ah Kum felt sorry for him. So she gave him her money and took the basket. Then she went home.
“Did you buy rice?” her aunt asked.
“No” Ah Kum said. “I bought this.” She showed her aunt the basket.
“But we have nothing to eat” said the aunt. And she began to cry. Then trange thing happened. The basket filled with rice. And each day afer that, the basket filled with rice. Ah Kum and her aunt never were hungry again.
